Privacy Policy

Accounting Directory has established this privacy policy to explain to you how your information is protected, collected and used, which may be updated by Accounting Directory from time to time. Accounting Directory will provide notice of materially significant changes to this privacy policy by posting notice on the Accounting Directory site.  Your continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to this privacy statement and any updates.

1. Protecting your privacy

The Accounting Directory website is intended solely for the accounting industry to post their company or individuals seeking work, search jobs, and post accounting related information.

Accounting Directory, or people who post on Accounting Directory, may provide links to third party websites, which may have different privacy practices. We are not responsible for, nor have any control over, the privacy policies of those third party websites We encourage all users to use caution when visiting them and review their privacy policy posted on each site.  Accounting Directory cannot ensure that all of your private communications and other personal information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. Therefore, although we are committed to protecting your privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information or private communications will always remain private. As a user of the this website, you understand and agree that you assume all responsibility and risk for your use of the Sites, the internet generally, and the materials you post or access and for your conduct on and off the Sites. Account information is password-protected. Keep your password safe and close out of your browser when you log out.

We rely on some of our affiliates for support of the services we offer, and we share some of our back-office functions with them. On occasion, we may also share customer data with our affiliates for their product development needs or to offer you products that we think may interest you. Our affiliates are all required to preserve the confidentiality of any personal information they may access.

We don't disclose any information about our subscribers' usage to unaffiliated third parties, except as necessary to service the account, to enforce the terms of our subscriber agreements, to meet our obligations to content and technology providers, or as required by law.

2. Data we collect

We sometimes collect your email address, for purposes such as sending confirmation emails, authenticating user accounts, providing subscription services, etc.  We sometimes collect your phone number for account authentication purposes, and may transmit it to a third party service for tele-robotic verification.

For job postings, we may collect contact information, such as name(s), phone/fax number(s), and address for billing purposes.

Accounting Directory does not store credit card information. Credit card transactions are transmitted to a financial gateway, and we endeavor to protect the security of your payment information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology.

We may collect personal information if you provide it in feedback or comments, post it on our classified site, or if you contact us directly. Please do not post any personal information on Accounting Directory's site that you expect to keep private.

Our web logs collect standard web log entries for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, and timestamp. Web logs help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Accounting Directory site, and to otherwise provide our service to you.

3. Data we store

All postings are stored in our database, even after "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.

Our web logs and other records are stored indefinitely.

Registered subscription & job posters can access and update their account information through the account homepage.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.

4. Archiving and display of postings by search engines and other sites

Search engines and other sites not affiliated with Accounting Directory may archive or otherwise may make available Accounting Directory postings, including resumes.

5. Release of information

Accounting Directory may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to law enforcement, subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process. Disclosure of information about its users may also occur to enforce our Terms of Use; respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Accounting Directory, its users or the general public.

6. International Users

By visiting our web site and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that due to the international dimension of Accounting Directory, we may use the data collected in the course of our relationship for the purposes identified in this policy or in our other communications with you, including the transmission of information outside your resident jurisdiction. In addition, please understand that such data may be stored on servers located in the United States. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data.

7. Opt-out Rights

You may cancel your membership with us at any time by following the link on the home page. If you cancel your membership, your Accounting Directory membership will not be renewed at the end of your current membership term, and your membership fee for that term will not be pro-rated.
